Aliens in the Bible
Despite enjoying science fiction as a boy, I wasn’t a big “Star Trek” fan. Another television series that came out in the mid-1960s was “My Favorite Martian.” I remember watching an animated remake “My Favorite Martians” that aired on Saturday mornings a decade later. Once while surfing the Internet, the original “My Favorite Martian” came up on YouTube. I decided to watch the first two episodes and found them interesting.
A question man has asked for years is “Are there life on other planets?” The Bible has an answer. Revelation 4 describes odd-looking creatures in heaven…
6 Before the throne there was a sea of glass, like crystal. And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back.
7 The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature like a calf, the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle.
8 The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying: “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!”
The word “alien” is found in Scripture but refers to foreigners and outcasts, not extraterrestrials. Nevertheless, I believe God created other inhabited worlds. I can’t imagine heaven and earth being the only two places in the universe having intelligent life.
One might ask, “What about UFO sightings?” I believe they are real but are not friendly visitors from outer space. Keep in mind demons are fallen angels who attempt to draw people’s attention from the Lord Jesus Christ. Sometime in the not too distant future, the church will be raptured. Those left behind will try to offer alternative explanations of what happened. Some may suggest aliens removed those who opposed the New World Order of the Antichrist.
Man is the only creature that needs redemption. Therefore, we should be more concerned about people’s eternal standing with the Lord than whoever else may exist in the universe.
“that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.” - Ephesians 2:12
