Reflection on the ’24 Election

A few days ago, I walked by a house that had Halloween decor in their front yard along with signs promoting Democratic politicians. I thought the possibility of a Harris-Walz administration was more scary than the ghosts hanging from the trees. Creepy decorations are usually on display for a few weeks during the year. The election of bad politicians has longer negative effects. Fortunately, enough God-fearing Americans voted so that Donald Trump will return to the White House. Not since Grover Cleveland has a president served two non-consecutive terms. Unlike the previous two elections, Trump also won the popular vote.

It was just before 8:30 p.m. EST last Tuesday when I started watching the Victory Channel’s election coverage. Although Kenneth Copeland had prophesied a Trump victory, I had concerns the Democrats would attempt to use invalid ballots to steal the election like what happened in 2020. Again, some news sources declared Kamala Harris the winner of certain states before the majority of their votes were counted. For a while, Georgia and Pennsylvania appeared to stop counting their votes. I stayed awake past midnight and kept praying that all attempts of voter fraud be stopped. Eventually, Trump gave a victory speech before I went to sleep.

Donald Trump’s victory would seem to vindicate other prophets who declared he would have four more years in the White House (except those who predicted consecutive terms). It also appears a prophesied “red wave” is coming to pass. The Senate flipped to a Republican majority. At the time of this writing, many House seats are undecided but will likely maintain a Republican majority as well.

Still, Christians cannot slack off on their praying. Democrats may try to pull off more monkey business between now and Inauguration Day, “lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.” (2 Corinthians 2:11) I saw videos of late-night deliveries of extra ballots in Philadelphia and Detroit under suspicious circumstances. There are reports of states receiving more votes than the number of registered voters. Fortunately, there were enough legitimate voters so the election was “too big to rig.”

Donald Trump had said “…God spared my life for a reason. And that reason was to save our country and to restore America to greatness.” Still, some professing believers aren’t happy with him returning as president. The morning after Election Day, I witnessed to a supermarket employee taking a smoke break. When asked if she was going to heaven, she replied, “Even though Trump won the election, I believe I’m going there to see my son.” Instead of talking politics, I verified she knew the Lord. She then commended me for sharing the gospel despite the rejection I might receive.

We cannot take for granted our country’s continued freedom. While most Christians can be grateful for how this election turned out, let’s stay focused on eternal matters.
